Antonoplos & Associates Initial Consultation Agreement

This Agreement applies only to the Initial Consultation Meeting (“the Meeting”). If you would like to retain the Law Offices of Peter D. Antonoplos, P.L.L.C., D/B/A Antonoplos & Associates, Attorneys At Law (hereinafter “Antonoplos & Associates”) for any further assistance after the Meeting, you will first need to be established as a client of Antonoplos & Associates. You should keep a copy of this Agreement for your records.

Scope of Agreement. You have requested to meet with a representative of Antonoplos & Associates to discuss your legal matter and some of the options that may be available to you. This Meeting does not establish you as an ongoing client of Antonoplos & Associates beyond the time and scope of the Meeting. Antonoplos & Associates will not take any further action on your behalf unless and until you are established as a client Antonoplos & Associates following the Meeting. To be established as a client, you will be required to sign an engagement agreement and provide a retainer to pay for future services.

Actions Based on Meeting. If you take any actions on your own based on the information discussed during the Meeting, Antonoplos & Associates does not guarantee that the results will be as anticipated or that you will be protected under the law for such actions. For example, if it is determined during the Meeting that an LLC is correct for your business and you choose to set up the LLC yourself, Antonoplos & Associates does not guarantee that you will actually have limited liability or that you have set up the LLC correctly. Therefore, even if you decide not to retain Antonoplos & Associates for further assistance, you should seek other legal counsel immediately for assistance with your matter to ensure that what you are trying to accomplish is truly accomplished. Failing to take action in a timely manner and/or in a correct manner may result in a loss of some or all of your legal rights.

Future Legal Help. You understand that Antonoplos & Associates is under no obligation to accept you as a client following the meeting for any reason nor are you obligated to hire Antonoplos & Associates following the meeting. However, if Antonoplos & Associates does not take you on as a client for any reason, you should seek additional legal help from another attorney.

Fees. While Antonoplos & Associates offers a Free Phone Consultation to determine if the legal services you are seeking are in the scope of her practice, the In Person Consultation is not a “Free Consultation”. During the In Person Consultation, we will discuss your specific matter in detail, discuss some of the options you may have, and answer your specific questions. Antonoplos & Associates charges a $300.00 fee for the first hour of the Meeting. This fee must be paid either in advance or at the In Person Consultation. If the meeting goes longer than one hour, any additional time will be billed at the standard hourly rate. After your initial appointment, the hourly rate is $550.00 per hour as of January 1, 2020. This rate does increase each year.

Governing Law. This Agreement is entered into by both parties in the District of Columbia, and shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the District of Columbia, except for those laws relating to conflicts of law.
